Billy from Perma Pastures

Keepers of the Old Ways 2023

Last week, March 31st-April 1st, we were in Dothan Alabama for the 3rd annual @keepersoftheoldways an event about all things homesteading, survival, and pioneer life.

Due to the weather and the long drive between Pensacola and Dothan, we were only able to be there on the first day, but we enjoyed our short time in Dothan. We got to see David the Good, and watch a class with Billy from @permapasturesfarm as well as a class on emergency medical herbs with Suzanne Shires. Their were so many great speakers and vendors we only were able to experience a small fraction of this event!

We also purchased some plants from @teaberryfarm, like Comfrey, Elecampane, and Mullein, as well as some mixed-breed eggs for hatching chicks!

The event was held at Landmark Park, an official museum of Agriculture in Alabama. @landmarkparkdothan The park is home to multiple historic buildings, making it a fascinating visit much like the Pioneer Settlement @panhandlepioneer in Blountstown Florida where Keepers of the Old Ways was held last year.

We certainly hope Keepers continues again next year! Inspiring and educating the younger generation on the old ways is so important!
