Kai: July of last year, we welcomed Jack into the family. It's hard to believe it's been that long- and that short, as life has so drastically changed since, but it also still feels like just yesterday Jack was refusing to come down from the ceiling fans until midnight! 🤣 Look at our beautiful Passion Flower! 🌸Also known as Passion Vine, Maypop and "Passiflora incarnata". This plant not only grows beautiful flowers which is great for attracting pollinators, but also has medicinal value that is said to give a calming effect, it also grows an edible fruit. Kai: I have never been a fan of buying premade pet foods. We like to keep everyone's diets clean in this household, yet pre-packaged organic products can be expensive. However, having a garden has made this a lot easier - as well as the "co-op" between animal and permaculture systems. Our hens eat greens and veggies from the garden, while our dog and cat benefit from their eggs! The chickens also receive feeder fish from our aquaculture, and worms from our earthworm farm. Our turtles also get fish, but the majority of their diet are the pests in the garden! After just a few weeks our trellis has turned into a wall of Green! It is being covered by a type of Squash-like gourd called "Cucuzzi", "Cucuzza" or "Italian edible gourd" this plant grows fast, and already has gourds growing on it!
