Mystery duck, & Chicken feed

This domestic Muscovy duck landed on our roof the other day! We only saw her one time after this occasion. Either way, odd sighting as we are still in a fairly urban setting. She may belong to somebody. We’ll keep you posted!

But while we’re on the subject, allow us to update you on our urban chickens.
Over a span of quite a few months, our chickens had not been laying. When we found out about some of the pellet food problems, we began supplementing them with beans and rice. This worked like a charm, and we are happy to say that our birds are regularly laying again. The rice and beans contain lysine and methionine, which is the ingredients the feed was lacking. This was our experience anyway. Wondering if anyone else had a similar problem?

With all the egg shortages, now is a great time to start your own backyard flock. It’s time to get your neighborhood on board with the chicken keeping fad (Or ducks, or quail, or maybe even pigeons 😁). The more people taking responsibility for their food security, the better off we will all be in hard times.
Hard times or not, either way, chicken keeping can be enjoyable, and fresh humanely raised eggs are always going to be the healthier choice!
